— YandereDev

(SNAP in this case is similar to the Heartbroken Game Over)。
制服 (目前僅在YandereDev的視頻中出現)Ayano would probably kill the teacher or the students (since she is invincible in SNAP) and then SNAP would officially start (SNAP in this case is similar to the Heartbroken Game Over).

Description (Heartbroken)[]

Snap gameover shatter

The Game Over screen shatters at the end of the eighteenth click.

Clicking the SNAP button will immediately interrupt the Game Over theme. The player must click the SNAP button eighteen times. Each click brings up a crack on the screen. A series of cracks will start to radiate from the center of the screen and there will be the sound of glass snapping. Ayano will flinch at each sound. With each crack, the Game Over interface of every other option fades away until SNAP is the only remaining option. As the cracks begin to appear, the camera will zoom in on Ayano. Once the final crack is made, the Game Over screen will physically shatter and fall to the ground, revealing Ayano with dark grey eyes without pupils on a blood-red background. The area around her will be colored bright red and black. Ayano's back will always be shown - she has the same stance as a mindslave and her face can never be seen from the front throughout the entire mode.

The area around Ayano turns dark red and black at the start of SNAP.

檔案:Snapkillhim.jpg

The "Kill him" objective that appears after Ayano finds a knife.

After the camera pans to face Ayano's back, the player will be given control, allowing her to walk, but not run[2], and all of the HUD effects will disappear. The only way to interact with any of the elements is to press the respective keyboard keys. The screen will constantly flicker and glitch - this is intentional.

On the top of the screen, the words "Find a knife" will jitter and flicker. If Ayano comes into contact with any student, she will automatically kill them with her bare hands. When she has a knife, she will kill them with that. Once the kill begins, the attack animations will appear in a random order, and static will cover the screen in-between each animation. The attacks will be faster after every person killed. Other students will have slowed-down, distorted voices, and will permanently freeze in place, "waiting" for the player to kill them. In this mode, Ayano is invincible. She can kill anyone in this mode, except for Genka Kunahito, 資訊醬 and Kocho Shuyona, who all despawn when it is triggered in the first place.

When Ayano picks up a knife, the words at the top will change to "Kill him", with the "him" being Senpai. Once Ayano walks within range of Senpai, she will pick up the knife, tell him, "If I can't have you, no one can", and stab him with it. After Senpai falls to the ground, voices will begin to whisper "Do it" with increasing intensity as "Do it" flashes on the screen in alternating shades of white and grey.

The SNAP end screen after Ayano stabs herself. After a few seconds, the loading screen will appear.

Ayano will look down at the knife. The button prompt will appear. If the player mashes the button prompt, Ayano will lift the knife up, then stab herself in the throat like a mindslave. The button mashing is meant to represent the courage it takes to end one’s own life. After Ayano stabs herself, the screen fades to bright red for five seconds, then the game switches to the loading screen and she respawns back at school.

Trivia[]

檔案:Redsnapscreen.jpg

One of the red screens that occurs between killing animations.

  • The first SNAP Mode was first implemented on March 31st, 2020.
  • The SNAP mode loop was first previewed in a video called "Personalities and Photography in Yandere Simulator" on January 30, 2016.
  • Killing a student will display several animations unique to SNAP. The animations are not in fixed order. Each animation will finish with a violent red static screen.
    • Ayano will stomp on their face twice.
    • Ayano will grab their face and poke their eyes out.
    • Ayano will lie on top of them and punch them twice as they stay prone.
    • Ayano will crush their throat violently.
    • Ayano will snap their neck.
    • Ayano will impale them with her arm.
  • Senpai can be killed with any knife. Using the Ritual Knife or even the swords from some Easter Eggs can allow for Senpai's death. If Ayano enters SNAP mode while possessing one of these, it will skip the “Find a knife” objective entirely.
  • It is possible to finish SNAP mode without killing any other students than Senpai. This can be done by walking to a knife and then walking back to Senpai, or getting a knife and waiting to teleport before killing Senpai.
  • If the player puts the camera in cinematic mode right before snapping, The students will turn white, and they can experience SNAP mode without the glitching effects. However, this is not recommended.
  • The font that shows the objectives in SNAP Mode is Levi Brush in uppercase and lowercase. It's the same font used for the large red text on the Game Over screen.
  • Preventing Senpai or Ayano's death is impossible in SNAP.

If Ayano wastes time finding a knife, the game will teleport her to one.

    • Senpai: If Ayano does not have a knife, she will be teleported to one after a certain period of time has elapsed. If she does have a knife and continues to waste time, the screen will flash static and teleport her to Senpai. If she continues to waste time with a knife, the game will force her into the kill animation.
    • Ayano: Once Senpai is dead, Ayano will die with or without player input. If the player does not press the button, Ayano will slowly lift up the knife, then stab herself through the throat.
  • There are eight distinct animations that are explicit to SNAP. All of these can be found in the game files. [3]
    • f02_snapIdle_00: The "mindslave" animation when controlling Ayano throughout SNAP.
    • f02_snaprise_00: Ayano gets up from her knees, then into the mindslave stance.
    • f02_snaptwitch_00/05: Five different twitching animations when the player presses the SNAP button. (Each one is named f02_snaptwitch_00 all the way to f02_snaptwitch_05)
    • f02_snapWalk_00: Ayano's walk during SNAP.
  • The reason why Ayano commits suicide after killing Senpai is because she has nothing left to live for any longer.
  • The incredible number of times the player must press a button for Ayano to end her life represents the strong willpower needed to end one's own life.
  • After the death animation plays, Senpai's collision mesh will despawn, meaning that he will pass through objects, or a wall, if there is one. This is to improve the framerate, as the camera focuses on Ayano.
  • After Ayano stabs herself in the throat, there is an extra part to the animation, in which she pulls her neck back off the blade, then bobs back and forth. The animation isn't visible in normal gameplay, as the red screen immediately follows her death.[4]
  • Once the player enters SNAP, there is no way to exit it except for killing Senpai and Ayano or forcing to quit the game.
    • Previously, it was possible to exit SNAP mode and receive genocide ending by using this mode after Ayano kill all student in SNAP mode. As of May 7th, 2020 Build, it is no longer possible to get genocide ending if this mode was used.
  • SNAP mode is the only normal (non-Easter Egg) game mode in which the player is able to kill Senpai.
  • A promo concept video was shown on February 14th, 2016 showcasing a possible version of SNAP Mode. In the video, when Senpai accepts the rival's confession, Ayano flies into a rage, killing the rival, Senpai, then herself before collapsing in a pool of blood. This is very true to final version, because all SNAP events lead to Ayano killing Senpai along with herself in the end.
  • In SNAP mode, the HUD disappears because Ayano no longer cares about the three elements. Time is pointless because she knows she will die. Reputation is pointless because she doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, and Sanity is gone because she has completely lost it, and it will never rise up again.
  • 檔案:Snapmode2015.png

Ayano after killing Midori in the "Emails, Volunteers, and Progress - Part 2" video.

The SNAP option was featured in YandereDev's YouTube video "E-mail, Volunteers, and Progress - Part 2"[5]. He is seen pressing the SNAP option after being angered by Midori. After pressing this option, both the drawing of Ayano and the floor are splattered in blood. This is also very similar to the final implementation of SNAP Mode.
  • In one of Druelbozo's Twitch streams, he compared SNAP to having a Golden Tanooki Suit from Super Mario 3D Land if the player dies enough.
  • The way SNAP will play out will be slightly different depending on the circumstances that caused it. For example, snapping after a rival's love confession and snapping while being arrested by the police would involve different events, but would have very similar outcomes.
    • For example, snapping after getting arrested may involve Ayano shooting the police and then returning to school after a failed suicide attempt, while expulsion may result in Ayano killing Genka Kunahito and then going after the other students/Senpai.
  • In March 31st, 2020 Build, it was possible for the player to get out of the school and it was possible to enter boys’ locker room.
    • As of April 2nd, 2020 Build, it is no longer be possible to teleport outside of the school or into the boys’ locker room. Instead, the player will teleport it to the weapon, or teleport to Senpai if you already have a weapon.
